I have been working on the SilverFastSE trial that UMAX points to offof their site as it is the only scanner software that will drive myastra2200 under OS X and so far I have had no luck. I was hoping the "lasersoft" text was a pict resource that could beremoved but that was a no go. I have also examined a universal Mackracker but that did not work either. I have tried looking at some ofthe code in Resourcer but again, no luck. I also checked some windowsprograms but again, still nothing.Unless someone posts a serial or really takes a crack at the code I mayhave to part with some cash and just buy it. Which I would do in aheartbeat but I am currently disabled and my income is fixed.

Hi all.I quite recently bought an Epson perfection v850 and i'm trying to decide which software to use for scanning 48bit raw images for tweaking (reflective scanning of objects, not film scanning).I have been using silverfast se plus 8 which came with the scanner, and my raw scans are very dark and i discovered i need to get additional software to make use of them properly.What would you recommend i do?

I've been using SilverFast for years now, bundled with my Plustek 7300, and always had truly terrible results. No matter what setting, no matter what I adjust, full auto mode or manual, every slide and negative was either mediocre or just awful. Colours were all over the place, dynamic range was non-existent, scan lines everywhere on difficult negatives. Professionals may know how to use this software but I don't.
